- Aug 24, 2014 - A few weeks ago, Hideo Kojima had revealed the entire map size of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. One look at the map and it's not.
This map is the second area of Metal Gear Survive you will discover along the main quest. It's based on a part of the Africa area of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain. This one is much more jungle dense based and more linear that the 'Afghanistan' one.
Searching for chests / containers in Metal Gear Survive is a great way to survive and collect all kinds of items and recipes that will help you better prepare and defend your base.
If you are looking for all Metal Gear Survive’s chests / containers, we have made a special arrangement of all the maps in the game with the exact location of each of the chests ! Searching through them one by one, whether you are in the Afghanistan zone or in the African zone, you will obtain a large number of recipes to make various objects and weapons that will greatly facilitate your adventure and at the same time allow you to improve the construction of your base.

Metal Gear Survive reuses an entire MGS 5 map
Have you wondered why Metal Gear Survive seems to have such a quick-turnaround compared to its predecessor, Metal Gear Solid 5? The answer is pretty straightforward: Survive is using MGS5’s engine and mechanics as development shortcuts to push for a 2017 release. And while there’s nothing wrong with that, fans have been taking a closer look at the latest gameplay trailer and noticed Survive is openly borrowing content as well, including an entire map from the previous game.

As YouTube user rensehin proved, it’s possible to play MGS5’s Afghanistan map alongside Survive’s Tokyo Games Show demo and see they are the exact same map. Sure, there are certain cosmetic differences – doorways are cleared, foilage is rearranged, and there are some new chest-high walls where none existed before. But it’s pretty clear the bulk of the map was copy-pasted directy into the new game before it was reformatted to reflect its alternate universe setting.
Now we should be clear, this isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Metal Gear Survive is not priced like a Triple-A game, and could easily feature original content we haven’t seen yet. But if Survive’s MGS5 content ends up being the only fun part of the game, long-time fans certainly won’t be impressed.
