You know it's funny. 5 or 6 years ago, people were recommending 1 GB of RAM to use EWQLSO Gold (or 2, if you could afford it). I remember running the library just fine with 1 GB of RAM and a single core Athlon 64 back in 2005 -- and those were moderately big projects (20+ instruments loaded). I NEVER ran into ram issues when I upgraded that old system to 3 GB of ram, even if I added in some resource-heavy Symphonic Choirs. Granted, that was the old Kontakt version. The new PLAY version is a fair bit less resource efficient, especially when you use the built-in reverbs (though they do sound great).

Anyway, I'm not disagreeing one bit-- especially with ram as cheap as it is. Hell, I'd even go as far as saying if you're going to upgrade, might as well jump to 8 or 16 gig. At this point, I'd say processing power is more important for those libraries (excluding Hollywood Strings/Brass) if you're planning on using the reverb. I've been using the PLAY reverb in my mixes almost exclusively now, and I can only get about 25-30 instances of the reverb loaded before my Core i5 2500k starts to buckle.
