Please Make Sure That The Kernel Module `vmmon Is Loaded.

I get the following error when trying to launch an ova VM using VMPlayer on Ubuntu 12.04

Ubuntu 18.04LTS is on 4.15 - so I guess if you stay there until Ubuntu changes kernel you are good. And it has nothing to do with the official Linux LTS kernel which is 4.14. Manjaro users has a huge advantage - Manjaro offering different kernels - every other Arch based distro follows Arch on which kernel is current. I checked with lsmod and it was indeed not loaded. When i try to load the module using 'modprobe -v vmmon', i get the following error:-

Then I found from the VMware forums the following suggestion:-

Loaded.

This does a lot of compilation, which I guess is to compile the module again, but I get the following output at the end of it:-

Please Make Sure That The Kernel Module `vmmon Is Loaded. Made

Please make sure that the kernel module vmmon

After this I get the same error as the start of the whole process. This has got me completely stumped for 2 days now, any help will be highly appreciated :(
